Unmindful mining activities destroy biodiversity, livelihood and creat climate crisis

While celebrating “World Earth Day “ at Lohia Academy at Bhubaneswar on Saturday, various social activists & political leaders strongly opposed unmindful and indiscriminate mining in the Odisha State affecting livelihood of lakhs of people .
Addressing a seminar on this occasion “ Should we finish all the natural resources in name development ? “ , noted social activist and President, Loka Shakti Abhiyan “Mr Prafulla Samantaray told that present unmindful mining activities destroy biodiversity, livelihood and creat climate crisis. In many mining auctions Govt is not following constitutional laws and rules as per PESA and Forest Right Act 2006. “In the name of development some extractive industries and mines will not solve unemployment problem nor bring inclusive development. “- told Mr Samantaray .
Addressing the gathering Mr Nishikant Mohapatra , State Convenor of Aam Adam Party told that ,both Central and State Govt are destroying our rich natural resources for the interest of the Corporate Houses . For long term solution Natural resources and environment should be taken to the preview of politics , so that people can choose their Government on this basic.
The meeting which was presided over by social activist Lingaraj Ajad was also addressed by Ex -Union Minister Mr Braja Kishore Tripathy , Manoranjan mohanty
Bijay Mishra , Bijay Upadhya , Bijay khilo , Comrade Pramila , Dhanfula Majhi & others . Leaders of various People’s Movements have participated in the meeting . Activist speakers have stressed upon strengthening the network of various movements in the State to save the natural resources for generation ahead .
