NAPM Urged New Adivashi CM to put an end to the mindless exploitation of natural resources carried out by the previous Govt.

The National Alliance of People’s Movement (NAPM) in a convention and followed by a press meet urged the the new Odisha Govt headed by an Adivasi Chief Minister to put an end to the mindless exploitation of natural resources carried out by the previous Govt.

Addressing a large gathering of leaders and representatives of various people’s movement  at Bhubaneshwar on Sunday, Mr Prafulla Samantaray & Lingaraj Ajad urged the new Government to implement the land rights and forest rights of Adivasis , Dalits and other marginalised communities. 

Mr Samantaray, who is leading various people’s movement in Odisha , told that the new Govt should put an end to the exploitation of land and natural resources by cancelling all mining and land leases that have been given to companies by the previous government in gross violation of the laws of the land . “ In the last 24 years, Adivasis , dependent on these forests,  land and natural resources have been forcefully displaced, faced false and fabricated cases . “ told Mr Samantaray. 

He alleged that Naveen Pattanaik Govt has violated the Mineral ( Auction) Rules-2015,Article 244 and the Fifth Schedule of Constitution. The PESA and FRA-2006, Odisha Scheduled Areas( Transfer of Immovable property) Regulations have been violated in auction process of mining leases in Maliparbat , Sijimali , Kuturumali , Balada, Ketameta and Uskalbag in undivided Koraput district, Karlapat in Kalahandi district and Gandhalpafa iron ore mines in Keonjhar district. 

Various leaders of the people’s movement urged the Govt to put an end of toxic & polluting industries, protect the social & cultural identity of Adivasis and other forest dwellers, land should be given to landless Dalits , revive the textile, spinning mills and sugar factories and setting of small industries based on forest and Agriculture products. 

They also demanded to withdraw all cases against the leaders and people , participated in various people’s movements. 

Among others, the convention was addressed by various movement leaders including Narendra Mohanty, Satya Banchar , Arun Jena , Upendra Bag , Shanti Majhi, Kantilal Naik & Kartik Naik
